You may have noticed that the shades on our tall exterior lights have been removed. This is temporary (TEMPORARY). The shades are out on a spa vacation, getting buffed up and repainted. After 10 years, they were looking a little sad.
Helpful language: We understand the lights are temporarily brighter now and appreciate patrons’ patience while the shades are being repaired and refurbished. We do not have a completion date as yet. Rest assured, they will be reinstalled as soon as possible.
Good to know: The lights without the shades are dark-sky compliant – technically, by the numbers, etc. However, they were brighter than we expected. When we opened 10 years ago, we worked with the neighbors on this issue. To make the lights even more dark-sky-friendly, we added custom-made lamp shades, which help cast more light downward toward the path rather than up, out, and across. RPL wants to be a good neighbor, cares about light pollution, and the environment.
