I was an executive director of a non-profit that raised money for a homeless shelter in Boston, Friends of Long Island Shelter, currently called Friends of Boston's Homeless. Also, I was a stay-at-home mom for a number of years. I was a library user, for myself and my kids, then became involved with the Friends of RPL, then served as a trustee for 2 terms -- then decided to try subbing when there was a need for subs. That eventually led to a permanent part-time position in Borrower's Services. The thing I love most about my work is the community - the Reading Community and the RPL staff community! My favorite book is currently Circe by Madeline Miller, just re-read it! I am note sure what book changed my life the most but I really loved Signature of All Things, by Elizabeth Gilbert. Assuming I already had good and fresh water I would bring chocolate, a tent, and a selection of books with my reading glasses to a deserted island. (oops is that 4 items?!) The most memorable place I have lived is Seattle, WA. On a lark, when living in Seattle just out of college, I had a short career doing singing telegrams. 🙂 I love music. I ring handbells, and sing in a choir. I have two dogs, one old, one young -- who require more attention than you might think. My husband Peter and I will celebrate 39 years of marriage in June (!), I have 2 adult "children," and one grandchild.
