I grew up in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, went to college in Connecticut, and have lived in various suburbs of Boston ever since. I've moved steadily northeast-ward, so I guess Maine would have to be next if I ever leave this area. I live in Reading, and had been a stay-at-home mom for a while when my daughter was very little; once she was a little older I was ready for part-time work locally. I started at RPL as a sub in Reference in 2018, and now am a regular 10-hour/week member of that team. Before RPL I worked full-time for over 10 years as a Research & Instruction Librarian at Northeastern University, and then switched to weekends at NU part-time once my daughter was born in fall 2014. I've also subbed at Waltham Public Library. In what feels like another life, I was an editorial assistant and have experience proofreading and copyediting. I love connecting people to whatever they are looking for from the library -- a good book, the information they need, and so on. My favorite, most life-changing book is "The Phantom Tollbooth" by Norton Juster. The clever wordplay and inventive characters just lit up my brain at a young age. The best book I've read recently is a toss-up between "The Measure" by Nikki Erlick and "Remarkably Bright Creatures" by Shelby Van Pelt. For fun I love trivia -- I appeared on Jeopardy! in April of 2023! I also enjoy crosswords, logic puzzles, escape rooms, etc.; I like to see live musicals and folk-y singer/songwriter concerts when I can; and I play clarinet in a community concert band (in which I met my husband, a trumpet player).
