I have an education background and I didn’t originally plan on working in libraries. I happened to find a job opening at a library working with youth and I applied. I’ve been working in libraries ever since! I like that libraries are so much more than the stereotype of a quiet place with stern librarians. It’s a lively space for the community to connect, learn, and be immersed in all kinds of stories.
The best book I read recently is "A First Time for Everything" by Dan Santat and "Remarkably Bright Creatures" by Shelby Van Pelt.
Since we go through so many stages throughout our lives there are bound to be several books that “changed” our lives. Would it be awful to say that all the books I’ve read have changed my life? Each one came to me at the right time to help me learn something about myself or others, to comfort me when I needed them to, and to put me out of my comfort zone. I look forward to many more life changing books. If I MUST pick one for now, it would be "What Do You Do With a Chance?" By Kobi Yamada.
I would bring food, sunscreen, and a radio that connects me to a rescue line, stat to a deserted island. [I don't want to be here... Wilson! 😉 ]
