When I knew it was time to leave the classroom, the library seemed like a great segue to a new field where I could use some technology skills and work with books. I love my colleagues and the opportunity to talk about books with patrons. I have worked in libraries in Danvers and Rowley, three high schools, one middle school and many preschools. I owned an event planning company, and I still design and sell stickers, lesson plans and social media templates.
One favorite book is "My Life on a Plate" by India Knight. The book that changed my life the most was "All of a Kind Family" by Sydney Taylor. The best books that I have read recently are "Wellness by Nathan Hill" and "The Berry Pickers" by Amanda Peters. A favorite movie is Pitch Perfect, and from all the music I love, I will never enjoy anyone more than my 70's favorites like Barry Manilow, John Denver, Kenny Rogers, Air Supply, etc.
If I were on a deserted island, I would bring my iPad (internet access is assumed for survival), my dog and my sister (don't tell my husband and kids!)
I was born in New Jersey, moved to CT and then to MA. My hobbies are reading, playing and teaching Mah Jongg, digital design (mostly stickers and t-shirts), anything crafty, watching reality tv, babying my houseplant collection, and hanging with my family.
I was so painfully shy until college that I wouldn't order food at a restaurant.
I make up Real Housewives-type taglines to help me remember people's names. It doesn't work very well but it's VERY amusing.
