Pocket Talk Translator-Update

We now have an additional PocketTalk Translator. It will live at the Ground Floor desk.

There are now 3 translators, one at Borrower Services, one that is shared between Childrens and the R & R desk. A copy of the instructions is in the box and I encourage staff members to test it out. I know that it has been used a few times already and it worked well.
The instructions are also saved under the Manuals/Instructions folder on the S Drive.

RPL App is Live!!

I am pleased to announce that the RPL App is ready for use! We are soft launching it, with a big PR push coming in September. I’d love to have staff try it out and see what you think! Feel free to spread the word to your friends and family.

The app includes a digital barcode, links to booking museum passes, our online resources, searching the catalog, our library events calendar and general library information.

Thank you to our beta testers including Ashley, Louise, Amy, Desiree, and several of our Library Trustees. If you have the beta version, delete that before downloading the live version.

Public Printing Update

Hi everyone,

Thank you for your patience as we get ready to switch to a new public printing hardware/software system. We are hoping to go live with this the week after Labor Day. Staff training, etc. to come.

This means that you will still need to staff override public printing jobs until then. If you have any questions please let me know.

Working on Accessibility

IT came by this morning and installed screen zoom/screen reader software on the computer closest to the R&R desk, and that computer is now reserved for low vision and blind patrons. We still have some work to do to make sure that is is set up to its fullest potential, but as of now, unless all of the other computers are in use, we want to save it for those who need it.
(Also the software makes the interface significantly different, and we don’t want to confuse or frustrate anyone!)
