Shout out to Valerie for going above and beyond, helping a co-worker and solving a problem: I want to give a shout out to Valerie for being a true supporter of creativity. She brings all my crazy billboard ideas from concept to actual execution. Her fabrications skills are truly beyond compare. She also has super amazing hearing and has on several occasions helped out with a patron hold before I even had to ask! She is a great co-worker and an asset to the library. From Andrea and Michelle.

Shout out to Cate for leading by example and for going above and beyond. Thank you to Cate who advocates for us in Children’s and also makes those pesky lunchtime meetings so fun and filling! You make coming into work every day an exciting adventure! Cate is always jumping in wherever she can to help out! From anonymous and Lisa R.

Shout out to Melissa for exemplary customer service. Melissa should receive a gold star for her outstanding customer service to a patron (initials JP) who is notoriously challenging!! I overheard him speaking with her on the phone, complimenting her on her attentiveness and wonderful customer service skills. He even thanked her!!! Now we know who we can direct this patron to for assistance! From anonymous.

Shout out to the library pages: Neftali, Smritha, Julianna, and (new crew member) Nemaya: You all always have a smile and friendly “hello” for EVERYONE! Her support and attention to co-workers’ needs is genuine and does not go unnoticed. It’s the alternative to the hug we all need and miss during these COVID times. Thank you from anonymous.

Shout out to Renee for going above and beyond and solving a problem. Renee has completed a zillion (really about 2 dozen) NHS Leadership forms for the students participating in the Study Buddy Program. Each student has an individual couple of forms to be completed and Renee does it for each and every student! She even devised a way to electronically sign each form!! That’s a lot of work! Thank you from anonymous.

Shout out to Andrea F. for solving a problem and keeping it positive. Andrea deserves kudos for coming into work with a positive attitude despite the declining health of her mother on the other side of the country. I don’t know how she does it! In addition to this, she has masterfully traversed an insane schedule during an even more insane time. Somehow Andrea makes it all work and even maintains a smile on her face! Lots of love and thank you, from anonymous.

  • Shout out to Ally for going above and beyond, helping a co-worker, leading by example, exemplary customer service, solving a problem, and keeping it positive. “Ally had my back … twice. On a rather stressful day with patrons, one of our regulars yet again had his mask off his face. I’d had it and let Ally know about our repeat offender. She grabbed a copy of the mask policy and promptly went to speak to the patron!! Ally also had me covered, with a somewhat volatile patron who becomes quite loud when he is unable to access his email. Again, Ally was standing right behind me for support if I needed it! ” You rock, Ally! Thank you for your kind and patient, yet firm, support!! From Susan B.

Staff Shout Outs!

We all know that the RPL staff are awesome, so let’s shout it out. Complete this form (it is also saved on the Forms page on the intranet) to share patron praise, recognize a colleague/department’s hard work, or to say thanks to a staff member or department for doing something exceptional.

No praise is too big or too small, we want to hear it all! Ally or Michelle will post these bi-weekly on the staff intranet.

Vending Machine Refunds on Trial Basis

We are going to try an experiment and have an envelope of money labeled GBL Vending Refund available at the Borrower Services desk to provide change for those who have lost money in the vending machine. This does not mean that we will be contacting Carmen about any vending issues and if this becomes time consuming, we will stop providing the refunds and revert back to having people contact Carmen directly. Please let me know if you have any questions.
