Tween Space vs. Teen Room

The Tween Space in the Children’s Room has tween books that are picked by us based on what the Tweens want. It is a very small curated collection that will rotate, and does not contain every tween book we own. Right now it’s adventure, realistic fiction, fantasy, and graphic novels.

The Teen Space is still the same with books for kids in grades 6-12, including all middle school required reading. The Children’s Room has no required reading for any age level.

Rising sixth and seventh graders have the choice to hang out in the Tween Space or in the Teen Room. The Tween Space is for kids who are not yet ready for the Teen Room.

Thank you! – Animal Fest

THANK YOU, fellow colleagues, for all you did to help make our Animal Extravaganza event a success on Saturday, May 11!

From preparing materials to staffing the event, providing promotional prowess, fielding questions, coordinating organizations, managing patron traffic and more, it took a whole crew to pull it off, and I am grateful for your time and talents. Fun photos to come 🙂

Book Bike Schedule Survey

If you are interested in riding the Book Bike around this summer and creating good cheer,  please fill out the Book Bike Form.

There are a few requirements; you need to have gone through the Book Bike orientation, and you must check with your supervisor before we give the go-ahead.   Once you’ve done that, you are ready to bike!  The Book Bike will be stationed at the commuter rail on some evenings and will also appear at the Wednesday Reading Rec. Summer performances happening at Memorial Park.    This is paid time.   Please do not sign up for an event during your scheduled desk shift hours.   If you have any questions, speak to Michelle, Cate, Andrea F or Andrea H.

Updates to Editorial Calendar Form

The editorial calendar form has been updated to better reflect PR options available for programs, services, and collections. The google form works the same way as it did previously.

This is also a quick reminder that the Off the Shelf newsletter is now monthly, deploying approximately the first Tuesday of each month. Spur of the moment or last minute town department news to share will go out on a dedicated News Around Town email. We’re also trialing a weekly Friday or Monday FB/Instagram post with 4-5 programs (or a service or a collection) highlight and reminder to check the event calendar for details.

We’ll monitor how the monthly vs. weekly cadence works over the next months to a year. If you have any questions about the form or how to use it, please email Desiree or Michelle.
