Have you met our new student pages? This fall, RPL has hired two new pages to keep our physical collections on track!

Dylin Sharkey works in Borrower Services and is a Senior at RMHS.

Bowen Willis works in the Children’s Room and is a Senior at RMHS.
Don’t forget you can browse through the “Meet the Staff page” to see all your colleagues, or check out “Who does what” for more information.
In case you didn’t already know, patrons who sign up for ecards through our website are not able to check out physical materials with that card number (which starts with a 5). To check out physical materials, they will need to come in and get a physical card (one that starts with a 2).
If you help a patron with this process, please make sure you change their patron type from Online to Public Patron. Let me know if you have any questions.

This week, we received a little envelope with “Season’s Greetings to a great staff!” Inside was a modest donation from Aubrey Stewart with the notation “for good service.”
You are appreciated!

Thank you to Rebecca B., Meaghan C., and Alissa L. for reviewing and making corrections/suggestions to our Employee Handbook (Nov 2023 edition). There were no substantive changes. We worked to clarify certain sections and corrected some errors.
Please find time to take a look at the updated document. Popular sections include those related to timekeeping, time off, and closings.
What’s missing? What questions do you have? We welcome suggestions for the next update!
For over a year, the Reading Public Library has been forging a relationship with the Massachusett Tribe to understand the history of this land and its peoples.

The Reading Lions Club gratefully accepts used eyeglasses (no eyeglass cases). Donation boxes are located at the Town Hall, Reading Public Library (Health Nook), The Pleasant Street Center, IDeal Eye Care on Main St. and Reading Eye Assoc. on Haven St. Most schools in Reading have a collection box also. Glasses may also be dropped off at 172 Summer Ave, either in the front mail slot or on back porch.
Two new iPad kiosks in the Health Nook are set to the Health Resources page of the RPL website. There is also a new Bluetooth Health Nook Printer. Library users can print directly to this printer from the iPads. The Health Nook printer is discoverable by any Apple device so library users may accidently print to it. If that happens please let me know, I want to track it to see if it becomes an issue.
